Ice-Skating

Wednesday we went ice-skating at Rockefeller Centre. We had to wait in line for a long time and everyone was cutting trough which made it very frustrating to stand there and wait. When we finally got in we had to rent some ice-skates. It was very busy because everyone was putting on or taking of skates. We got our skates on and went on the ice. But Wies had her ticket in her wallet and my dad had her wallet so we had to go back. At first we sucked in ice-skating but later on we got a lot better. I could go backwards and do twirls. There was this one guy that could do figure-skating. It was amazing! He was so good. That always makes me jealous. I always wish that I would be very talented in something and nobody knows it and then suddenly you can do it so insanely good that everyone is shocked. :)
We skated for like 2 hours and then we had a snack at five guys (the most delicious hamburger place). Then we went to St. Marks to get our nails done and our haircuts. We got our nails done for 11 dollars. I got French Manicure, Wies got gel nails with grey nail polish and Christina got pink nail polish. Then we went to this cheap haircut place. They did haircuts for 12 dollars! But it was sort of weird because the guys were Russian and I am always used to be cut by a woman. Then we met up with Kenny (a friend of my dad's) and Christina, dad and Kenny had a beer at an Irish Pub. Dad found a very cheap pizza place (2 slices and a drink for 2.75) so we got that.
Back at the hotel we were so tired so we couldn't write anymore. We watched a movie and then we fell asleep.

Top of The Rock

Hello! Okay now we have to go back two days XD. Well, Tuesday we woke up and we went to Webster Hall. That is a concert hall and we asked if we could do a bit of filming. Unfortunately the girl was too shy and we couldn't film. After that we went to a huge magic store. They had all sorts of crazy stuff. Harry Potter, saw masks, vampire teeth, fake wounds, etc. Then we went to the post-office to get some stamps and send a package. Then we took a Subway to Rockefeller Centre and took the elevator up to the 67th floor. The top of the elevator was glass so we could see through and look at the tunnel. It was so fast! On top of the building we could see this amazing view of NYC. We could walk around to see 360º of New York City. From New Jersey to Harlem, to the Bronx and Brooklyn. We had some professional pictures made but they all turned out crappy. So we just made our own.
Then we went to this 99 cent shop called 'Jack's'. We bought a lot of stuff. Mostly food and make-up. Then we went to the Manhattan shopping mall. It was smaller then I expected it to be but we did have fun. Wies bought some shoes and I bought a shirt and some underwear. After that we were not done shopping yet so we went to Macy's. They are open 24 hours! We didn't buy anything tough. When we got back at the hotel it was already 11 o'clock. We still didn't have any dinner so we walked over to Astor Place and had some burritos.

Hellooo! I'm sorry we didn't post lately. And I am not gonna post now. I just wanted to say that we'll post tomorrow and tell you everything about yesterday and today. I'm too tired to post now. Sorry!!

Tourist day

We woke up, took a shower and out we were. We went to Astor place first. I bought a hat and we met Christina there. Then my dad ran into some guy he knew from ' The Misfits'. We had breakfast there and ate some very nice frozen yogurt. I never had that but it was very good. The place was called 'Pinkberry'. It was like 'Your Swirl' because you could choose your own toppings too. But instead of ice-cream, it was yogurt.
We took the Subway to Bowling Green to go to The Statue of Liberty. We took a ferry to Staten Island so we could see the statue. On the ferry we took some pictures but it was soooo windy! It was hard to get a picture without hair everywhere. We took the boat back right away. Wies and I went on the front deck and we got totally blown away, literally. It felt like a huge ventilation shaft. We tried to make some more pictures :P but they were a bit weird. Once we got off, we took the subway to Ground Zero. We went into an Amish market (crazy) and then we went to the second floor of the Financial building to see an overview of the construction area where the World Trade Centre once was. It was insane. People were digging under the ground and everything was a mess. It's hard to believe that there were two huge buildings there before.

When we took the Subway to 34th street we were very lucky. We were on the first cabin of the train. We could see the tracks and the tunnels we were going through. It was just like a roller coaster.
Then we walked over to the music building where Ultrasound is also situated and did some more school work. We interviewed a guy from a recording studio and got a small tour trough the rooms. Then we went to a different recording studio and we were amazed. It was the actual studio where Beyonce, Destiny's Child, Missy Elliot, and more huge artist recorded their golden records. Like OMG, freakin' Beyonce! We interviewed a guy there too and filmed it again. Then we went up to the 11th floor to go in the guitar lesson school of NYC. The people in their were very kind. This girl Amy (who we also interviewed) even played a song for us! And we had some cheesecake :p
Before we went back to the hotel, we went to Times Square and we passed Fashion Av. to film some more for our presentation. We did our introduction saying something like: 'We are Eva and Wies and we are on Times Square NYC for our school presentation'. We took the Subway back. In the Subway to Union Square (where we usually get out to go to the hotel) 4 boys started hip-hopping right in front of us this time. They were pretty good, also a bit scary because sometimes they almost hit us XD. I always love to see those shows. It's so cool that these boys can do that, in the Subway!
We still didn't have dinner so we went to McDonald's and had some Big Mac Meals. Then we bought more popcorn and I bought a 'Lipsmacker' (red raspberry taste) and Wies bought some facial mask.
Now we are sitting on the bed watching 'Sing-Off' finals. Pretty cool to see. It's about choirs singing a cappella and competing. Ow, now it's over :( We're gonna watch an other movie now I think.

Oh and btw, in Brooklyn, we found a small fake Christmas tree laying on the floor. So we took it to put in our hotel. Yeeeeh! We have a Christmas tree!!! HAHA

Band practice

Since we were to lazy again yesterday, we have to write about yesterday too. Yesterday we went to see my dad's band practice. The band he practiced with exists of Jeff (drummer), Kenny (bass player) and my dad Sonny (vocal and guitar player). We filmed the whole practice for our school assignment. It was pretty rocking! We sat on one of the speakers and we felt the vibration from the bass under our buts haha. Then Jeff gave us a little tour through the rehearsal rooms which we also filmed. We did a small interview with one of the guys that work there too. So more material for our presentation.
Ehm.. after that we....yeah what did we do? Oh, we went to the flea-market. I bought a red jacket for 12 dollars but later I saw that the jacket was from the 1940's!! So a real antique jacket, how cool is that? We also bought 2 rings. One had a snake on it and one is a friendship ring with a heart on it (we both have one). It got so cold outside that we had to leave the flea-market and sit down somewhere warm. So we went to a restaurant. They served food from New Orleans. It was pretty good. We also met up with Christina over there. Then we went to a sort of beauty shop with creams, hair stuff, nail polish, etc. I bought some hair cream and two O. P. I. nail polishes (black and blue).
After that we went back to the hotel, grabbed some popcorn and I grabbed more nail polish (pink-ish). We watched 'The Nutty Professor. The Klumps' and I talked on the phone with Jard (L). Christina went back to the apartment she's staying. After that we still had to do the blog, which was a pain. And we were so giggly. Wies has this bunny that she got from Jasey (her boyfriend) and she was swinging its ears. Then suddenly she stopped swinging them and the bunny looked us straight in the eyes. We couldn't stop laughing! My dad was getting irritated because he wanted to sleep. We tried very hard to be quiet but it took quite a while until we could stop laughing.

Brooklyn (18-12-10)

Yesterday we went to Williamsburg in Brooklyn. We didn't feel like writing yesterday so that's why we didn't post anything. Brooklyn is great! It is so funny to suddenly see the sky again. The buildings in Brooklyn are way shorter. On almost every building is graffiti. Very cool graffiti (we'll post some pictures). We went into a lot of vintage stores. So, of course, I bought a blouse (Ralph Lauren!), two pairs of shoes (pumps and ankle boots), a bag and a present for mama. Their was this one place in between two buildings with a fence in front of it, and there were like 6 dogs running around in there. That was very funny. And then we saw a guy feeding 3 cute cats. We went to a park near the river so we could see Manhattan from the other side of the river. It looked amazing! We put a coin in the binoculars so we could zoom in on the buildings and see everything that was going on, on the other side of the river. We could also see the Brooklyn Bridge. We also went into a crazy store with bags made out of chips bags and newspaper. After that we met up with Christina and had a bagel. Oh and we also had some Thai Noodles before that. We went to one more vintage store but my dad was getting tired of shopping so we went back to the Subway.
We had dinner in Little Italy at an Italian restaurant called Rocco's (very mafia like) with Kenny, which is a very nice friend of my dad's. He was one of the Testor's drummers. We had a very nice dinner. I had square spaghetti XD
Then we went to a small café in Brooklyn called 'Goodbye Blue Monday'. The toilet over there was full of stickers, that really looked cool. The first band was kinda weird and sucked but the second band was pretty good. I sort of liked them. The café had a lot of funny details. For example it had an umbrella over a light which gave a cool light effect. But we got too tired and went back to the hotel.
It is so funny how areas so close to each other are so different from each other. Brooklyn looks just like a normal city, not with the massive buildings. But it is also looks different with all the graffiti and funny things so see around you (like the dogs). But where the café was (also in Brooklyn) looked totally different again. It looked more like the poorer part so a lot of cafeterias and small kiosks.
When we got back we watched the end of 'Meet the parents' on video :p
That was what we did on Saturday. Ohh noooo, my hair band broke... grrr.
Oh btw, I forgot to tell something (actually two things). When we were on our way back to the hotel, we saw a hip-hop show in the  Subway train. There were two guys doing all sorts of tricks while the train was going. It was very good. And yesterday we saw lots of cute squirrels in the Union Square park. This guy was feeding them peanuts. They were so close, one bit my dad and one hung on my arm. They're soooooo cute!!
There are some things over here that just aren't likely in Holland. When you go out to have dinner, they fill our glass with water alllllll the time. As soon as the glass is not 100% full anymore, they fill it again. So we have to pee a lot haha. Also a lot of times it smells like waffles. But actually, it isn't waffles we smell, but roasted nuts. You can find those on each corner of the street over here. The (put) are weird, smoke comes out of them. That looks crazy because it seems like the sewage is so disgusting and chemical that it causes chemical clouds. There are lots and lots of other things too. Just small details that are so different then what we are used to.
